Your 2018 Pride-At-Home Companion

Hello! Have you heard, IT IS PRIDE MONTH 2018! And it seems like everything is on a rainbow pallet hurtling toward a parade. But what about those of us who aren’t inclined to join the heat, the throngs, the…thongs? If the parade is your jam, no judgement here, but there are plenty of us queer folks that aren’t welcome, considered, or just plain don’t wanna. And this, dear friends, is for us, this is for you.

WHAT IF YOU BASICALLY LIVE THERE

First hurdle: what if the parade is in your backyard? Find another space or event in your area that meets your needs in a way that the parade doesn’t. Pride usually takes over one area of town—is there another you can spend time in? Look up if there are any concerts or comedy nights happening. Stake out a museum, a record store, some other hometown adventure you keep forgetting to have while you’re busy living there.

SHOWING PRIDE IS NOT JUST FOR PARADES

You can get bi pride glam and go to a coffee shop, bar, concert, park, the sky is literally the limit, leave on a jet plane even! Here are some bi pride makeup tutorials to get you started:

READ OTHER STUFF I’VE WRITTEN

I mean, it’s one of my favorite ways to spend my time. So, from a love letter I wrote for you:

Let’s do something together.

Let’s forget any negativity, any preconceptions, any burdens. Let’s just be in the moment. Let’s just breathe, be still, be our authentic selves. Let’s be quietly revolutionary and, in that, let us feel from every digit to every follicle, the comforting blanket of knowledge that you are loved exactly as you are.

Because dear You, you are.

Wherever you are, I’m so glad you’re here.

[Insert however you feel about] Pride, reader! You matter. You’re queer enough whether or not you attend a parade. And wherever you are, I am so glad you’re here!
