The Anti-Gay Advocates Who are Caught Acting Gay (Bi?)

Unfortunately, (or maybe fortunately) there’s a lot of bi erasure when it Screen Shot 2015-04-09 at 8.54.40 AMcomes to politicians being caught in the act of a gay liaison. A politician can be in a marriage for most of his life and have a bunch of children and still get caught in a bathroom stall with a male prostitute. But is he bi? No, he’s labelled “gay.”

There’s an eye-opening list on Ranker.com that has a list of politicians who were thought to be heterosexual who were avid anti-gay crusaders and then found in compromising gay liaisons. The story, “The Top 16 Anti-Gay Activists Caught Being Gay,” has photos and short profiles of the anti-gay crusaders and their downfalls.

There’s the guy who dressed as a drag queen on the side, the guy who hired a Rent Boy but didn’t know he was a prostitute, and then that wide-stance the politician had in the bathroom airport.

Only Rev. Ted Haggard, the disgraced Colorado pastor, actually embraced the term “bisexual.”

But really, do we want any of them to use the B-word? Perhaps not.ted-haggard-people-in-tv-photo-u1
