Every September we celebrate the week of Bisexual Visibility Day with #BiWeek. According to GLAAD, Bi Week provides a focused time when “allies and bi+ people learn about the history, culture, community and current policy priorities of bi+ communities.” #BiWeek 2016 was a stellar time to connect, cultivate our own expression, and learn more about the vibrant bi+ community.
Throughout the week members and supporters of the bi+ community made us laugh out loud, provided opportunities for enrichment, and gave us even more reason to celebrate. Let’s take a look at some of #BiWeek in tweets!
#BiWeek and #BiVisibilityDay are reminders that there are so many ways to be bisexual and so many opportunities to celebrate each other. Don’t worry if you missed out on all the fun! You can still find archived twitter chats like the book-focused #BiYAChat, GLSEN’s youth-orientated #IloveBIself, @transwave’s twitter chat celebrating bi visibility and sexual diversity in the trans community, and the resurgence of the much-loved #bisexualfacts.
Just because #BiWeek is over doesn’t mean we all really disappear! Visibility is an important part of our community. We all see bi erasure happening, and it hurts the entire community. It might not be a special day or week, but there are still lots of ways to be bi and to be visible! Check out #StillBisexual for more videos sharing stories from the bi+ community and visit amBi.org, the largest bi social club in the world to connect.
