Hi, I‘m Aleishea. I am Bisexual.

I'm seventeen years old and i live in north dakota. I absolutely love music, art, and reading.

What being bisexual means to me

It means that I openly choose to be myself regardless of what anyone else thinks.

What I would like the world to know about bisexuals

Bisexuals DO exist. We're real people with real feelings and it's not okay to try and say otherwise.

What was your path to a bisexual identity?

I've always known I was attracted to girls and boys alike. As a kid, I had lots of crushes on girls and even kissed some of them. I didn't really identify as being bisexual until I was fourteen. It took me three years to come out, but I'm so glad I did.

What is the toughest thing about being bisexual?

A lot of people say that bisexuality isn't a real thing and it pisses me off more than anything. People also think bisexuality is a choice, it really isn't.

What is the best thing about being bisexual?

The best thing about being bisexual is knowing that I don't have to limit myself to falling in love with someone from one gender. There are so many possibilities for love it makes me very happy.

How have other people in your life reacted to your bisexuality?

The people closest to me have done nothing but support me and I am very lucky and thankful for that. I did have an ex-boyfriend who told me that there was no way I was bisexual because I showed no sign of it and because he would never date a bisexual. I also had a teacher approach me about how I was going to hell because of my sexuality. Overall, the response I got was very positive.

What advice do you have for someone who thinks they may be bi or who is in the process of coming out as bi?

Don't come out until you're ready. If it's not safe for you to come out, I'd advise you not to, but it's all up to you. It's your sexuality and your life. Don't let people control your life based off of what they want.
