Hi, I‘m Stephen. I am Bisexual.

My name is Stephen and I'm an Italian-American Roman Catholic bisexual living in Staten Island, New York. I attend the College of Staten Island where I'm pursuing a major in Biology. Once I receive my bachelor's degree, I plan on obtaining my master's degree in microbiology so I can work in a clinical lab.

What being bisexual means to me

Being bisexual simply means that I am sexually attracted to both men and women. I am able to find beauty in both sexes.

What I would like the world to know about bisexuals

I want the world to know just because I like guys doesn't mean I'm not attracted to women. It's called BIsexual for a reason.

What was your path to a bisexual identity?

I always knew I was different since I was little, but I just couldn't figure out what it was. During elementary school and my freshman and sophomore years of high school, I had crushes on girls in my classes. When I was a junior, I started having feelings for another boy, and after some researching I realized I was bisexual. A few months later, on National Coming Out Day, I officially came out on Twitter as bisexual.

What is the toughest thing about being bisexual?

The toughest part is having to explain what bisexuality is. The gay community may say you're just afraid to come out as gay and straight people may say it's just a phase. There isn't a lot of representation for bisexuals, especially bisexual men, in television and movies.

What is the best thing about being bisexual?

The best thing is that there are so many hot people to date.

How have other people in your life reacted to your bisexuality?

So far, just my parents and my sister know, and they are ok with it. I plan on coming out to my extended family if and when I have a boyfriend.

What advice do you have for someone who thinks they may be bi or who is in the process of coming out as bi?

If you think you may be bi, do some research and see where you fit. Don't come out until you are ready, but don't stuff yourself in the closet forever.
