Hi, I‘m Mataya. I am Bisexual.

Hi! I am Mataya Mark I am 14 years old and I have struggled with depression for 3 years now. I am looking for someplace I can feel wanted at and feel like I belong. For about 2 years now I have been looking for a website that I can be totally honest and not be judged for who I am and I started looking for a website when my parents found out about my sexualitity and disowned me and now I just want somewhere to feel safe at.

What being bisexual means to me

What being bisexual means to me is that we are all the same and 99% of the straight people who look at us can never really tell that we like both genders. I think NOBODY should judge us for our preferences.

What I would like the world to know about bisexuals

That is a real sexualitity.

What was your path to a bisexual identity?

I was messaging a friend of mine and I thought she was pretty. She told me that she was lesbian and then I asked her if she would let me see if I like girls. She was up for it! We ending up dating for about 3 months. I realized I was bi because I liked dating with a woman like I like dating guys.

What is the toughest thing about being bisexual?

The toughest thing is getting made fun of or getting looked at in an odd way.

What is the best thing about being bisexual?

That you don't have to change the song lyrics and that you can have a equal amount of guy and girl friends.

How have other people in your life reacted to your bisexuality?

Well, I have lost a lot of friendships but also gained a lot of new friends. My parents disowned me and so did most of my family. But my true friends don't look at me any differently; they were perfectly accepting when I came out.

What advice do you have for someone who thinks they may be bi or who is in the process of coming out as bi?

Don't listen to what people have to say. If it makes you happy, then do it. Being LGBT+ is NOT a choice.
