Hi, I‘m Kayti. I am Bisexual. I am a bisexual woman who is in a happy and satisfying marriage with a man. He knows about my bisexuality and is very supportive and helpful to me. I lose a lot of visibility as a bisexual person because I am in a heterosexual marriage, but I hope we can all fight to become more visible in the community and become a respected part of the LGBT community.
What being bisexual means to meBeing bisexual means that I am attracted to both genders. It does not mean that I am easy or am dissatisfied in a monogamous relationship. Being bisexual is not discredited if a bi person chooses to be in a homosexual or heterosexual relationship.
What I would like the world to know about bisexualsWe are just people and when you see a same sex or opposite sex couple, they very well could be bisexual instead of gay or straight. Do not assume!!!
What was your path to a bisexual identity?I just never really thought about myself as weird or different for liking both men and women. I found out the label for it later on but I actually never had much of a problem accepting it personally.
What is the toughest thing about being bisexual?Being seen as gay or straight when you are with your partner or if you are in a straight relationship, being denied as part of the LGBT community by those who don't understand.
What is the best thing about being bisexual?Feeling unconstrained to love whomever makes me happy regardless of gender!
How have other people in your life reacted to your bisexuality?Mostly people would say that since I settled with a man I was finally getting out of my "phase". It is stil not a phase. Never will be.
What advice do you have for someone who thinks they may be bi or who is in the process of coming out as bi?Love yourself! No matter if you end up realizing you are bi or not, the important thing is to understand that you are important and worthy no matter what.
