Join the Bi Visibility Challenge!
For those who haven’t yet noticed, Bi.org is presenting our annual Bi Visibility Challenge in celebration of Bi Pride Week! The rules were posted at the beginning of the week. To qualify, participants simply need to feature the “Bi” symbol in their profile pic.
Throughout Bi Pride Week (Sept 19-26), we are randomly selecting ten winners. Each winner will receive a Bi Swag package valued at over $150. (Details at the challenge page).
The idea is to flood FB with Bi Profile pics, to show the world that bi people exist and are numerous. So far, people have been having fun with the challenge, getting creative with their use of the symbol:
So far, thousands have participated.
Folks have begun sharing their coming out stories:
Some people have even come out BECAUSE of this challenge:
The challenge continues through the end of the day, Sept. 26th. We still have more winners to announce! So, change those profile photos today (or keep the one you have if you’ve changed it already).
For the details, check out the FB event: Bi Visibility Challenge!
A lot of bisexual people feel invisible because of how society tends to lump us into one of two limiting categories (gay or straight), based upon assumptions regarding our current relationship status. The Bi Visibility Challenge is a fun opportunity, on the special occasion of Bi Pride Week, for us to be explicitly in-your-face visible (at least for those of us who are privileged enough to feel safe coming out). For those of us who aren’t yet ready to come out, hang in there. There is a whole community waiting to support you.
Happy #BiPride week, everyone!
