Irvine Welsh’s Book Features Bisexual Fitness Trainer

51VvXXHcq-LIn The New York Times book review section on Sunday, a review by Sloan Crosley detailed the protagonist of a new book, The Sex Lives of Siamese Twins, as “Lucy Brennan, a bisexual 33-year-old fitness trainer with ‘snake-swallows-football calves.”

The book, according to the review, taps into the great obsessions of the times: personal training and real estate. It takes place in Miami Beach, where Lucy Brennan stops a crazed gunman who is seen chasing two scared homeless men. She becomes an instant celebrity, but then, it turns out that the “crazed gunman” was a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of the two serial pedophiles he was chasing.  Oops!

Then, one of the key witnesses, a 200-pound woman named Lena, becomes obsessed with Lucy and enrolls in her fitness classes, but is obviously interested in a lot more. This gets a bit “Shades of Grey”-like but with female protagonists.
