Bi Triangle Will Remain in ‘Grasshopper’ Adaptation
British film director Edgar Wright insists he will keep the bisexuality in the love triangle at the center of the book Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith. He agreed that if you took something as crucial like that out of the project then “fans of the book would be in an uproar.”
Vulture describes the story as “a teenager whose battle against giant grasshoppers is almost secondary to his blossoming bisexuality?” .
Wright recently signed on to direct Grasshopper Jungle, ironically after he famously left the project Ant-Man, last year. It is an acclaimed coming-of-age novel about a teenager who begins to realize his bisexual attractions.
The project will come after completion of his next film Baby Driver. promised that the movie version of Grasshopper Jungle will retain the book’s unusual love triangle between the protagonist, his girlfriend, and his male best friend: “That’s kind of a deal-breaker, right?”
